When it comes to fatal drug overdoses, they do not discriminate in any way, shape, or form. They take away people from us regardless of their socioeconomic background, how much money they have, or how famous they are. Here are some of the most famous cases of celebrities lost to overdoses.

Mac Miller

Mac Miller was a famous rapper and music artist that tragically overdosed and passed away. Mac Miller topped the charts as an independent artist in his teens and was friends with many of hip hop’s biggest talents. On September 7, 2018, at around noon, police officers responded to a 911 call placed by Mac Miller’s assistant and sober coach. He discovered Miller’s lifeless body in the 26-year-old’s bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene after he dies of an accidental drug overdose. Fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol were all found in his system at the time of death.

Mac Miller suffered from a long time struggle with addiction. He often attempted sobriety and had been working on getting sober since 2016, but he frequently relapsed. According to his assistant, he had relapsed again just three days before his death. His death was a big shock to those close to him as he had reportedly been in the best mental and physical health of his life.

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse is another big name artist that lost her life from a fatal overdose. She was a gifted musician, artist, and performer who lost her battle on July 23, 2011. According to authorities, Amy Winehouse’s death was a result of accidental alcohol poisoning.

Winehouse’s bodyguard said he observed her drinking at her home days before her death. Not long after 3 pm on July 23 he went to check on her and concluded that she had no pulse and was not breathing. That is when he called the police. She was pronounced dead at the scene at just 27 years old.

Chris Farley

Chris Farley was found dead at the age of 33 on December 18, 1997. Farley was an actor and comedian that rose to fame on the show Saturday Night Live. That was also where his journey with drugs and alcohol began after he began to feel the pressures of his newfound fame. From then on Farley struggled to kick his addictions to alcohol and many drugs. He was often in and out of rehab and Alcoholics Anonymous.

Even after 17 times being checked into rehab, he was unable to outrun his demons. In January of 1998, his cause of death was finally revealed after much speculation. He dies of an overdose from a mixture of morphine and cocaine. Chris Farley’s death was scarily similar to that of one of his heroes. John Belushi. He also dies at age 33 n 1982 from the same thing.

Janis Joplin

This legendary rock star dies on October 4, 1970, of a suspected heroin overdose that was compounded by alcohol in her Hollywood hotel room when she was just 27 years old. She was a gifted singer-songwriter from the 1960s who suffered from substance abuse issues. She died just a year after the icon performed for hundreds of thousands of fans at the 1969 Woodstock Festival. Her manager John Cooke found her after she was late for a recording session that day.
