Primary Therapist

Liz McLaughlin is a primary therapist for Garden State Treatment Center. Liz is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and received her master’s degree in mental health counseling from Caldwell University in 2019. Liz has been recognized for her academic achievements by induction into the Psi Chi International Honor Society of Psychology. In addition, she has been a practicing board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) for 4 years for a variety of clientele including severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders, autism spectrum disorders, neuro-cognitive disorders, and personality disorders.

Liz practices counseling under the supervision of Leslie Malnak, LCSW, LCADC. Liz’s approach to therapy is integrative, with an emphasis on person-centered, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). Liz is passionate about providing quality care and helping her clients achieve sobriety and wellbeing.
